Cornerstone Chiropractic donates life saving equipment
Dr. Joseph Young of Cornerstone Chiropractic has generously donated a brand new, state of the art, adult CPR mannequin, infant CPR mannequin, and an AED(defibrillator) trainer to the police department. This equipment will be used to keep all officers trained and certified in CPR.

Overturned Dump Truck injures 5
At approximately 7:45am on 10-24-11 a dump truck owned by SC Trucking out of Newark caused a nine car accident at the bottom of the Riverdale hill on Rt. 23S. The highway was shut down for approx. 3 hours while emergency responders aided the 5 injured parties, removed the dump truck and damaged vehicles and then cleared the highway. The 5 injured were treated at Chilton Hospital. The driver of the dump truck was cited for causing the accident and received multiple summonses.
Purse Snatcher Arrested
On 9-20-11, Ptlm. Keil located a fleeing purse snatching suspect in a stolen car. At approx. 8:00am a woman was assaulted and had her purse stolen from the Pathmark and Kinnelon. A broadcast was put out with the description of the suspect and his car. Ptlm. Keil located the suspect vehicle and with assistance from Pompton Lakes PD apprehended the suspect after he fled down Hamburg Tpk and crashed the stolen vehicle he was driving.
RPD Now Accepting Applications
Entry Level Police Officer applications are now being accepted until 9:00am on Sept. 21,2011. You may pick up one application package at the police station. PTC certified is preferred. Do not call the police department with any questions.
Street Fair Postponed
The Riverdale Street Fair has been postponed due to flooding. The new date for the fair is Sept. 25, 2011.
Road Closed
Due to flooding from the hurricane Rt. 23 remains closed in Pompton Plains. Riverdale Road and Hamburg Tpk. are now open in Riverdale.
01/05/06 - RPD Dispatcher deployed to Iraq
Riverdale Police Department dispatcher, Eric Hollenstein, a United States Marine Corps. reservist, recently received word that he is being deployed to Iraq to fight the War on Terrorism. We would like to wish him, and all of the troops stationed in Iraq nothing but the best on their tours of duty, and a safe and sound arrival home.
11/17/05 - Injured Marines Fund
The mission of the Family and Friends for Freedom Fund is to raise funds for injured Marines and their families. Our country's severely wounded Marines continue to fight battles here at home with their struggle to adjust to their injuries. This organization provides financial support to injured Marines while they continue their long road to recovery and to continue to support the 'Injured Marines Semper Fi Fund'.
