06/18/05 - Construction of K-9 Car
This
2003 Ford Crown Vic was due to come out of rotation
as a Patrol Vehicle keeping to the master plan of traffic
Sgt. Gregory Bogert and the Mayor and Council for car
rotation. The vehicle was in good condition with only
51,000 miles on it. |

here to see the rest of the New K-9 Vehicle Photos |
| The
Police Department was in need of a vehicle for use by
the K-9 unit. Lt. John Peine and Ptl. Patrick Harden contacted
a number of people to outfit the vehicle with the needed
equipment. Sussex County Sheriff's Department was the
first to come through with a donation of a K-9 kennel
for the back seat of the car. Then to make the white Ford
look uniform with the black and white Chevy Impalas that
are in service on patrol now, a paint job was needed.
Steve and Joe Silversey, owners of Riel Autobody at 276
Hamburg Turnpike in Riverdale did an outstanding job of
painting the vehicle to match the others in the fleet.
The Silverseys did this as a donation to the Police Department
also. After 3 days in the body shop, the car was then
off to Ultimate Audio at 1167 Route 23 South in Kinnelon.
Scott Raess and his co-workers tinted the windows of the
car. This is done to keep the dogs cooler on those bright
sunny days. The tint will block out over 90% of the UV
light and shade the dogs while they are in the car. Ultimate
Audio also donated the tint to the K-9 unit. For the finishing
touch to the car, Joseph Natale, the owner/designer for
Xtreme Graphix was contacted. Joe is a Butler Police Officer
and designs graphics for vehicles. Joe came up with a
really nice design for the cars, adding some great graphics
of actual photos of the dogs to the scheme of the car.
Joe also made a donation to the K-9 Unit for his services.
The Riverdale Police Department, Chief Soules, Lt. John
Peine, and Ptl. Pat Harden would like to thank all the
businesses and the Sussex County Sheriff's Department
for helping with the construction of the K-9 vehicle.
If not for the contributions of people like these this
would not have been possible. |

12/14/04 - Project Child Safe, putting a lock on safety in your
home.
As a firearms owner, it is your responsibility to know
how to properly handle any firearm you own and also
to know how to secure your firearm(s) in a safe manner
in your home. Project ChildSafe has been created to
help you accomplish these very important safety goals.
For those of you who keep unsecure weapons in your home,
and also for those just looking for an extra gun-lock,
Project Child Safe has donated 600 gun locks to the
Boro of Riverdale. The locks are free and are available
